The Bago Oshiro Fiber Research and Seed Station (BOFRSS), formerly Silkworm Egg Multiplication Center (SEMC) was established in 1994 through the RP-Japan Joint Project purposely for research and development of Philippine silk in Mindanao. Today, BOFRSS maintains a 2.389 hectares of abaca plantation as ready source of abaca planting materials and at the same time, as show window for visitors and clienteles. The Abaca Diagnostic Laboratory and the Abaca Tissue Culture Laboratory were also established inside the station to support its mandate of producing disease-free planting materials for distribution to farmers/clienteles. |
