2010 ABACA DISEASE MANAGEMENT PROJECT

Project Title: ABACA DISEASE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM FOR LEYTE AND SOUTHERN LEYTE

The Authority continued to implement its abaca disease eradication project and encouraged farmers in affected areas to participate in the project. In 2010, the FIDA focused its abaca disease operation in the 25 barangays of Sogod, So. Leyte and 23 barangays in Burauen, Leyte, the areas severely affected by abaca diseases.

Chemical Formulation
Green-Label Herbicide (Glyphosate) - Soaked bundles of 100 bamboo sticks in pure solution in plastic pails with covers for 48 hours, in some instances 72 or 96 hours depending on the working days, then air-dried. Green-Label Insecticide - Two (2) cup-full of pure insecticide for every container of 16 liter-water capacity knapsack sprayer.
