At present, there are 1,004 farmers involved in the production of maguey fiber in Regions I and VII, specifically in the provinces of Abra, Pangasinan, Ilocos Sur, Cebu and Bohol. Total domestic production of maguey fiber is consumed locally by the cordage (rope/twine), carpet and fibercraft manufacturers. There are three licensed cordage processors and six traders handling the marketing activities in maguey-producing regions. Likewise, three processors in Region I are into maguey fibercrafts production. |
