After the presentation,
the IYNF-FIDA Chairman Josephine Regalado discussed the Multi-Sectoral
Proposed Activities including the schedule, location and proponent/s
for each activity. As agreed by the group, the activities include:
1) Trade Exhibits featuring the Philippine natural fibres and
Silk, Piña and Abaca Festivals; 2) Conferences/summits/forums;
3) Abaca Week Celebration; 4) Fashion Show; 5) Essay Writing
Contest and Poster Making Contest; 6) "Gawad Hibla 2009"
Search; 7) Fibre Museum & Documentaries; 8) Attempt to set
world record for Longest Twine or Rope; 9) Information Caravan;
and, 10) Furniture and Home Décor/Unique Fibre Product
Design Contest.
Among the suggestions
made by the participants include: 1) the DTI can have a special
setting for fibre-based products in all their trade fairs throughout
the country and abroad; 2) the Product Design Center of the Philippines
can be a venue to showcase the natural fibres since the Center
holds thematic display of Philippine products; 3) a Technology
Forum on Natural Fibres can also be an important event for the
IYNF where players from the various sectors of the fibre industry
can present new discoveries and researches; and, 4) a fashion
show titled "Weaves of the World" shall be held on
October 2009 at the Mall of Asia.
Committees were
also created for the proposed activities for the IYNF- national
level as follows: (1) Exhibits; (2) Promotions and Publicity;
(3) Conference; and, (4) Awards. |
